HOW WE HELP
-
Historically, our community has banded together to protect the blood supply and create health insurance reforms.
Today, NorCalBDF supports advocacy on multiple levels. We participate in state legislative visits hosted by the Bleeding Disorders Council of California and send community representatives to Washington, D.C. for national legislative days. We also strengthen our community’s advocacy skills during Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month each March through education and hands-on training.
In addition, we empower individuals and families to advocate for themselves in the places that matter most—at school, at work, in hospitals, and within their communities—because self-advocacy is essential to receiving the care and support they deserve.
-
Northern California Bleeding Disorders serves the needs of people impacted by bleeding disorders through enhancing quality of life by providing support, education, outreach and advocacy through our affiliated national foundations.
-
NorCalBDF is a community focused organization. We hope that every community member can feel heard, cared for, and loved. We couldn't do this work without our board of directors and our staff.
-
We work closely with our partners to provide resources for our community members. We have an emergency assistance program (EAP) that provides emergency financial support to families affected by bleeding disorders.
-
Times are changing. Old funding sources are shifting priorities. We need your support, both financially and in volunteer hours. Learn how you can help make a difference for our community. Get involved to ensure that current and future generations have the resources they need to live happy healthy lives.
