Get Involved/Support

Volunteer

Volunteers are thrilled with their time at our events!

Volunteer across Northern California

Every route across the region starts with someone showing up.

From the coast to the valley, families living with bleeding disorders count on neighbors, mentors, and helping hands. Find the way of giving your time that fits your life.

Six ways to help

Pick your stop on the map.

Volunteers show up in a lot of different places for NorCalBDF — some are one-day stops, others are a season, and a few become a standing commitment. None of them require a medical background.

Community Events & Health Fairs

One day at a time

Staff an information table, greet families, or help run logistics at walks, health fairs, and community festivals across the region.

Peer Mentorship

Ongoing

Trained mentors are matched with newly diagnosed families to share lived experience and community connection.

Mentors offer companionship, not clinical guidance — questions about care always go back to a hematologist or Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Camp Support

Summer season

Serve as a counselor or activity leader at a bleeding disorders camp, helping kids and teens build confidence and friendships.

Office & Mailing Support

A few hours a month

Help with mailings, data entry, and event prep from wherever's convenient — flexible, behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything running.

Advocacy & Awareness

As needed

Share plain-language information about access to care and treatment costs with local representatives and your own community.

Our advocacy is issue-based and nonpartisan — no candidate or party endorsements.

Fundraising & Events Committee

Seasonal / ongoing

Help plan the annual walk or gala, coordinate volunteers on the day, or connect us with local business sponsors.

No experience required

Every role starts with an
orientation. We'll train you for
whatever you take on.

Confidentiality matters

Roles that involve contact with community
members include guidance on
keeping personal and health information private.

Open to everyone

We welcome volunteers of every race,
religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, and immigration status.
