In addition to presenting some data to the medical tract, I moderated a panel on Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) care for consumers. The panel included our very own Pedro Preciado and Lisandro Rios from Fresno. The room was full and we got rave reviews!
The NorCalBDF team was very busy meeting with our business partners to outline support
for our new and existing programs.
I was able to attend the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee (MASAC) meeting,
where clinicians create guidelines for the care of bleeding disorders for the whole
country.
A new Marion Koerper Innovation Fund has been created by Dr. K’s family to support
MASAC and research in her name.
Most of the material was pretty clinical, but one important item was the return of Stimate
by the end of the year.
Nationally, there is a continuing effort to remove people from the Medicaid rolls. This is
not affecting Californians at this time, but people receiving Supplemental Security
Income from the Social Security administration are receiving notifications for
“redetermination” or something like that. It looks like a regular statement, but you need
to take this letter to your doctor and be re-evaluated. Otherwise, you may be removed
from the roles. Bottom-line – READ YOUR MAIL.
Respectfully submitted,
Randy
